Resident Evil The Ballad of Raccoon City (RE2, RE3, Outbreak Review)
Here's a mystery that no one ever seems to talk about, and I can't find a satisfying answer for it no matter how hard I try. Why on earth do the people in Antarctica start attacking you as soon as you arrive? Dr. Willard invited you there to join the expedition and deliver the items. But from the moment you step into the stage, it's like everyone is out for your blood. Yet, when you finally meet Willard, he and Lara aren't even hostile towards each other. He's all, "Come in, come in, make yourself at home," and Lara is calm enough to have a civil conversation with him before things escalate. As chaotic as this game is, I've managed to find logical explanations for most of it up until this point. But the relentless attacks from the guys in the snow? That just doesn't add up. And then there's Lara, casually taking down American federal agents without any consequences. Maybe I'm just not supposed to question these things...
Bought the remasters recently, mainly got the convenience of having them on switch as o regularly replay the original trilogy on PlayStation. Really loving them. It's crazy how much of a difference not worrying about save crystals makes. Although they never bothered me in the past not having to deal with them is much better.
I beat the remaster of 2 and then 1 for the first times in my entire life recently. I’m working on 3 now but stuck almost towards the end at the 4 way intersection with the trials
My boy passed 5K. I knew he could.
Playing TR3 remastered currently. You can imagine how many times I've yelled "FUCK OFF GAME" or "Lara you stupid cunt, jump!" Still can't stop playing obviously.
I'm absolutely baffled by the people in this comment section claiming THIS to be their favorite classic TR. I lack the stupidity to relate to that opinion. This is so obviously the most broken, poorly-executed garbage in the franchise besides Angel of Darkness, and it's such an obvious cashgrab thrown in at the last minute, right after the team was just DONE making these games because they were so grossly overworked from constant crunch. If this is your favorite TR, you are part of the problem in the gaming industry. It's people like you that confirm it's okay to release garbage at the expense of the developers, the real people's, wellbeing.
Funniest intro ever.
57:00 Hard to imagine QTEs getting any amount of praise these days but it's wild to hear people talking about "you can't even put the controller down during cutscenes!" like it's an amazing piece of storytelling and gameplay finally realized... I absolutely hated this shit back then. QTEs were part of Shenmue 1 and 2 because it was mindfully designed as a companionship to the "real sim" kind of game that it was. It wasn't just an action game with random QTEs, it was a story-driven adventure with MANY things happening throughout the game; you had mild RPG mechanics, and puzzle-solving, and detective work, and talking to NPCs, and following the breadcrumbs of a story, and beat'em up moments, and by the end of the game, you have to deal with 70 enemies in a row, including 3-4 minibosses. Anyway, QTEs felt like they were as much part of the experience as any other part of Shenmue, and barring some highly specific plot moments, usually failing a QTE wasn't a fail state, the cutscene might even continue and could even impact your progress and the story. It wasn't just a mindless series of button prompts in place of cutscenes, they were trying to convey action through story in a way that wasn't possible with normal gameplay. Then God of War and Resident Evil 4 came along and said "well what if instead of just making great cutscenes to give the player something cool to watch while they rest after the intense gameplay, with forced button prompts that, if failed, will punish them and they either have to keep fighting the boss to drain their health to try it again OR they just die and have to do EVERYTHING AGAIN." Yeah, fuck that shit. In 20+ years I have NEVER played a game with QTEs outside of Shenmue 1+2 that did them even remotely acceptably. I hate QTEs. In fact, the fact QTEs are so horribly obnoxious and fucking pointless makes me retroactively hate their presence in the only two games in existence that have ever done them properly. So no, you're wrong: they ARE the worst thing in RE4. They're a waste of your fucking energy and they severely diminish the quality of a great game that already had fucked up enough with having to babysit Ashley and a dozen other things nobody likes to deal with. The QTEs are just the most blatant, glaring flaw with the game, and it's pretty dishonest to say they're "not the worst thing." Yes they are. Nobody likes QTEs, and they are especially obnoxious in this game and everyone knows that.
50:00 My god it's so painful to watch normies struggle with "how do I reload??" It's so infuriating when people have ZERO instincts to pause the game and check the CONTROLLER SETTINGS to find out how to reload. Or, if you're slightly less dumb, pause the game and google it in 2 seconds. What in the world is wrong with these people?? "How do I reload? But how do I reload? Oh no I dunno what to do I'm so bad at videogames I don't know how to reload" geez this is so annoying to watch. Is this your first videogame ever???
I'm going to assume this is tomb raider 3 I remember some of the rules Look up Hug through every wall surfaces Get green crystals in later stages They were our friends at first but now they're here to freaking make us die LOOK UP
Looking up didn't even save me
@@TheGameStatistic so the game is still on C**t Force
When is this MF moving to europe
5:00 In regards to that whole tangent about Claire and Jill looking for Chris: I once twitted at Hideki Kamiya, the director of RE2, what he thought about the story of RE3 -- which was already well known for having sloppy writing and not making much sense. He said, and I quote: "RE3 is trash." I replied something along the lines of "Haha I can see why you'd hate it," and I was promptly blocked lol. That was many years ago and I think I have a screenshot saved somewhere. I tried to google for the actual thing but now I find out his account's been deleted, so I dunno if he was banned or whatever. Oh well...
Too many hands in the cookie jar
There aren't enough cookies and the jar is organic
This is the best review ever!!
Him going the wrong way in TR3 gave me pain
Bye 😀
9:56 agree Lara didn't give a single damn
7 year old video, only 500 plus comments low subs, the or not sold me to continue sir
When I played the original TR 3 on the Playstation back in the day I managed to accidentally find a huge level skip on Thames Wharf the first time I played it. You just go right above the sliding roof after spawning and go towards the Cathedral. After doing a specific double jump sequence crossing the bridge, you end up on the other side right next to the Cathedral on a non-slide block you can stand on. From there all you have to do is jump onwards until you reach the Cathedral and finish the level. That's the only way I ever played it and always thought that all the other areas were just secrets and pickups. I recently found out (after playing the remastered Trilogy) that I accidentally discovered the speedrun tactic for the level as all speedrunners use that jump skip.
I think it's funny we've had just as long of a break between games as Underworld to 2013.
18:35. "Yes we are still on frame 1." You're god damned right you are. I wouldn't have this shit any other way! Great review!
I'm 11 of 15 missions through this game, playing for the first time. So I thought it best to revisit this video. Will do that for the rest of the series as I play them. Well won't be touching Chronicles nor Angel of Darkness. And already played the Ann trilogy. So far I really don't like the controls. I'm playing the remaster, but man they are something else. At best they seem serviceble but at times like percisions wimming they are awful. And the worst aspect of this game is the camera which seems to do whatever it wants. I am still glad I'm playing the game and I installed a few mods to help the experience, new pistol sounds and a couple texture upgrades and removed the intro stuff so booting the game is really quick.
You should reconsider AOD. IF you play these the first time it's hard. Modern controls work best when you already know how the mechanics of the classic controls work! When it comes to the camera my biggest issue was when the game takes away the view to an outside camera. In those cases push the look key so it resets to normal view. When the game suddenly changes to a different camera angle DONT RELEASE THE CONTROLS! First I say try the game with tank controls. Understand how the grid system works with jumping etc. Once you got that down the modern controls are a breeze. I can't believe how well I got used to them. When it comes to one grid runups before a jump you can even get a runup by just circling in one grid with the 360 movement. When you need to back down a ledge just use the Right trigger to activate grab mode so you'll just hang down the ledge just like in the modern games.
@@Franku40keks Thanks for the tips. I did finish TR1. Overall I'm happy I played it. But I'm going to give it some time before playing TR2.
Oh... it's just a stream. I hope you make a review at some point.
I was so excited lol😅
I really really really really hope you’re gonna do a full review of this
My boy got ads! Way to go!
My favourite of the trilogy tbh
Magnums were the best it's a crime they didn't make it to future games
the main thing I hate is the inability to jump, and why jumping was taken away when it was all over the prequal
This is the most retarded resident evil review ever
First, TR 4 is way too long and tedious, and being locked in Egypt for almost 40 levels doesn't help either. Second, the first 1/4 part of the game (up until Alexandria / Coastal region / Lost library) is fine, the rest 3/4 is just plain frustration. It is frustration after frustration without a guide-book / walkthrough. For me TR 1 is great, TR 2 is the best for being more polished, with Temple of Xian being the pinnacle of TR level design. From TR 3 onward, the level designers are just on crack. Really don't share the appeal of TR 4 after all these years.
And not to mention the infuriating OVERUSE of jump-scare music on almost every enemy spawn! They are everywhere! A museum guard , a dog , even a crow come with the music like a Nemesis spawned ! This is extremely annoying.
Maria Doria was my favorite level in TR2 😅
Heres all the popular m rated games i can think of . Gta Devil may cry Metal gear solid Tom clancys splinter cell Tomb raider ( the newer games) Zone of the enders Mortal Kombat Dead or alive God of war Call of duty Battlefield Ninja gaiden Mafia Payday Nioh Nier Fallout These are the ones i can think of
Alot of games that are worth playing end up with the mature rating !!!
i actually find tr3 easier than 2
Weird place for trolling, kiddo
i just played this for the first time in like 10 years still used to the controls
Great review
Amazing Review \/
You say a lot of things that are wrong in this video
Name 10 and correct them, then
I joke about my friends' about you saying tu-umureida on the daily sometimes u my n word bro
As his friend, i confirm this
I know all 3 of the OG TRs by heart and TR3 is by far my favorite to replay. The levels are far more interesting, varied, and challenging than anything in the first 2 games. The design choices that make TR1 and 2 much better first playthrough experiences actually make them much less interesting to replay, since they're just not that interesting once you know what to do. TR3 still packs a good challenge even when you know the level layouts, traps and enemy placements by heart. I really, really like the new game plus mode for TR3 in the new remastered version (all weapons from start, no med packs, tougher enemies, crystals are the only way to save and heal). It rewards you for being careful and seeing how many tricky sections you can make it through before saving.
Last revelation is DEFINITELY the most difficult Tomb Raider
No it isn't, TR3 is infinitely harder
The reboots are lame
15:56 this explains my exact experience with this level. lol 😂
I love how you can show actual nudity but if I show an asscrack I get demonetized
Had to re-watch this after completing the remastered. Oh my god TR3 is definitely not a good game. The rant is totally on point here. TR1 is a timeless masterpiece, TR2 is still lots of fun but TR3? Trial and error BS with tons of jank. I hate it, lol.
.
Best first levels in TR history. None of the TR game were THAT good in a first hour. After that... endless water levels... killed all the buzz.
So it's bad because it had some depth. Saved you 36 minutes.
Okaaaayyyy, not once did any of the points presented here occur to me as I played this game. I enjoyed. Simply turned it on and enjoyed it. ... I take that back - I never got lost in this game like I did in the first game.
